Speaking of Public Speaking

Speaking of Pubic Speaking is a student text and video series that offers a fun, fresh approach to public speaking, addressing students’ fears and aiming to provide students the skills to communicate effectively in a variety of public-speaking environments—from presentations to interviews, from storytelling to the creation of videos for public consumption. Each unit starts with a short reading passage followed by related exercises and activities. The text, aimed at mid- to high-level proficiency levels, is packed with illustrations, comics, surveys, charts, and group activities. The units aim to broaden the scope of public speaking in a thought-provoking way, exploring such facets as nonverbal communication, presenting logical opinions, speaking with power and impact from the introduction to the conclusion, and being natural and open in front of groups and audiences in order to build a relationship bridge with listeners.
